The Past Pupils’ Association Vijitha Central College Dikwella, which traces its beginnings back to 1991/1992, marked a historic milestone yesterday by officially adopting its own constitution after 35 years of continuous service and commitment to the school community.
The draft constitution, prepared by the current Executive Committee due to the long-standing absence of a formal governing framework unique to the association, was presented to a Special General Meeting held on May 9, 2026. Following discussions and deliberations, the constitution was unanimously approved by the membership.
With the adoption of the constitution, the association now possesses an official legal and administrative framework that will guide its future activities, strengthen governance, and provide clear direction for the successful continuation of its work. Members described the occasion as a significant and memorable turning point in the history of the association.
Special appreciation was extended to the Principal of the college, who also serves as President of the Past Pupils’ Association, the Constitution Drafting Committee, the two advisors, the current Executive Committee, and all past pupils who contributed valuable suggestions and amendments during the drafting process.
The association also expressed sincere gratitude to all members who attended the Special General Meeting and supported the successful approval of the constitution. The dedication and continued affection shown by former students towards their alma mater, even after stepping into wider society, were highlighted as qualities that truly reflect the spirit and pride of being a Vijithian.
The Executive Committee conveyed its respectful appreciation to all past pupils for their commitment, contribution, and unwavering support toward the progress and future of the association.
